Venice Grand Canal

A detailed transformation of Venice’s most iconic waterway for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The Grand Canal has been rebuilt with restored architecture, redesigned bridges, custom statues, traditional boats, and the many details that give Venice its unmistakable character.

This scenery covers approximately 5 km of the Grand Canal, with a focus on the historic waterfront and the architecture that makes it unique.

• Restored and enhanced churches and historic buildings, with attention to their distinctive architectural details.

• Redesigned bridges, including improved geometry, materials, and historic character.

• Custom 3D statues, including the Building Bridges statue, created to bring Venice’s landmarks closer to their real-world appearance.

• Venetian boats and traditional waterfront details that make the canal feel active and authentic.

• Wooden poles, piers, and other characteristic canal-side elements.

• Restaurants, awnings, and additional waterfront details that add life to the surrounding streets and buildings.

• Night lighting that adds atmosphere to the waterfront after sunset.

• Water cleanup to improve the appearance of the Grand Canal.

• Reduced photogrammetry trees to reveal more of Venice’s architecture and improve the views along the waterfront.

• Crowds and environmental details that help create a more believable Venetian atmosphere.

From the air or at street level, the Grand Canal now has a richer, more authentic Venetian character.

Performance

Designed with performance in mind. Despite the amount of detail added to the Grand Canal, the scenery performs well. On my Intel i9-10850K and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090, I get approximately 90 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 at 1080p with high settings.
